Adding 4x zoom level to video camera by abelousov
 |
|
(3 Dec 2006) To activate 4x zoom on video camera:
Copy attached "mme_imager.cfg" to a/mobile/system folder on your v3x. This file controls zooms, color filters, exposure, light conditions. I just add 4x zoom
Question: What was modified?:
Answer: It's difficult to explain. File divided to 2 parts, first part controls external camera and second part internal camera. Each part containing groups which starts with 2 bytes representing size of group, next byte represent number of sub groups in the parent group (in some cases), next byte ID of the group and so on. It has several major groups like (resolutions, zoom levels) each major group has subgroups like (zoom 1x, 2x, 4x) and so on. So this code represent zoom levels of external video camera:
0024010800200201000E0009009000B000B000200002000E000A009000B001F000980003
Question: my mme_imager.cfg is not in /a/mobile/system. Its on /a/mobile/videos. Are you sure I have to copy this file into /a/mobile/system?
Answer: Yes. It will try to read from /a/mobile/system first, after from /a/mobile/video. So you can keep original in video folder and copy moded in system folder.
Upload Tool(s): P2K Commander, P2K Manager, Moto4Lin

Dictaphone (Voice Recording)
 |
|
Many of you would like to record voice memos on your V3x and here’s a nice little java application that allows you to do just that. It’s called Dictaphone and you can get the zip file containing the .JAD and .JAR files here. If you need help installing java applications on your handset, go to the Guides & Tutorials page and download the java app installation using Midway tutorial. The MS Word file will walk you through the entire process of installing java applications. The Flash file shows the steps taken in MIDway only.
Now, you can only record with the Dictaphone application. For playback, you have to navigate on your handset’s menus to Settings>Multimedia>Sounds: Your recordings will be there, entitled by day and date like this: Sun-Jul-120934-GMT-0400-2006. Just select the recording you want to hear and you're good to go. BTW: Your recordings are saved in the a/mobile/audio directory on your phone for future reference.
(i-paws) Dictaphone works really well. There is also one that works with the flips closed or you can just insert some code into the one that does not work with the flip closed. Here’s how:
· In Notepad press CTRL+F and then paste this in: "MIDlet-Permissions-Opt:" (without the quotes)
· Right after the colon on that line enter a space, then type: “FlipInsensitive:True" (without the quotes).
Is there a way that I can get the dictaphone to record while closed? And, can I remap the voice dial key to open and record with the dictaphone? Thanks for any ideas. kn
(dkepler) getting dictaphone to record while closed is just a matter of having the following key in the JAD file: FlipInsensitive: True. Getting 1 key remapped to do all that, is a whole different thing:
· you can't remap by seem one key to launch an application.
· getting dictaphone to start recording once loaded actually takes 2 'left softkey' presses (3 when launched for the first time, due to the security prompt) and 2 more to stop Maybe you could try remapping the voicedail key to be the left softkey button & have dictaphone preloaded before closing the flip?
(Kunzi_n) Thanks a bunch for your reply...how can I change the flip intensity?
(ebentley) After loading the java app/game, in MotoMidlets just double-click on the file and the "file attributes" window will pop up. Just click the box that says "flip Insensitive" and click OK. Look at the diagram below
:

There IS a voice memo in the V3X, but it is bound to MMS creation. So, if you create a memo you MUST send it via MMS. BUT, there's a workaround--create the memo (under message menu) auto opening of mms creation page set a virtual number (like 111222333444). The mms will fail and it will store under

US English "Obey Moto" (Blackhacker)
 |
|
Thanks to Blackhacker for this contribution!
VST US English: Ok gang here goes my first bout at unassisted modding: I've tinkered with my VST files (Obeymoto "say a command", you know the deal) and here's what i've come up with: VST that prompts with UK English but understands us yanks in the US. No more having to improv your best UK English accent. What I did was borrow the US English VST files from the V3x's closest relative that actually has VST: the V3i. It took me about an hour to figure out which of the four files did what. I'm not 100% but here's what I've kind of figured out; PR_000c is the file that prompts you "Say a command", LP_000c is the file that actually contains the strings to be recognized, VP_000c is the file that compares what you say to that list (I think), and 000c.ver is the file that tells what version VST it is. I may be wayyyyyyyyyyyy off but for now I don't give because this understands me perfectly. (209.8 KB)

Modified Cingular WebSession (HTTP) [ebentley]
 |
This modified WebSession contains the HTTP settings needed for the V3x to properly interact with the Internet so you can receive MMS message content and also to render web page praphics properly. See the V3x Personalization Guide for installation details.
|
Cingular Certification Files (Certs)
 |
These are the Cingular certification and J2me domain registry files needed to enable successful receipt of MMS messages. These certs have to be used in conjunction with the modified HTTP Web Session provided above. See the V3x Personalization Guide (Table 1) to learn where to load them on your handset.

There are a couple of methods detailed in some guides (Password=flash) to make changes to the mma_ucp file to change your menu display. See the V3x Personalization guide, Version 2.3, paragraph 1.1.8 for details. In the meantime, here's a couple of modded files for your experimentation. Creators:

Change Default Phonebook Category
 |
|
This modification changes the default phonebook category from "Friends" to "General". Just copy the modified PBK_Category file from your hard drive to a/. Note: Its been brought to my attention that downloading the file from this site appends a .txt extension to the file. name. Uploading that file to your handset will result in it not working because the original PBK_Category doesn't display a file extention. So, I removed it from the download button below. You can download this file (without the .txt file extension) from My File Lodge here and it will work. Once uploaded, start creating a new contact. Once in the new contact window, scroll down to category and you will see that it has been pre-populated with "General", vice "Friends".
